John Smith - There is a Stone

TUESDAY BLUES

Do you like Singer/Songwriters/Alt-Country/Americana or Indie-Folk, or do you have a unhealthy affection to the sadness, if so you may have a case of the Tuesday Blues!

John Smith - There is a Stone (2013)

One of the great pleasures of spending time in isolation (on holidays rather than in HM prisons) is the ability to switch off from work, disconnecting from the web and discovering music that I've been storing for months.  One example of these discoveries is the ordinary named, John Smith.  Smith originates from Devon, is popular in the folk scene and has already released a number of albums. This fantastic track features on his most recent album, 2013's Great Lakes.

His influences include Bert Jansch and Ry Cooder and the Cooder shines through on There is a Stone.  Gorgeous slide guitar, gentle percussion, whispery vocals and subtle fingerpicking all make this one to check out.

If you are a fan of Men with Beards, like the gentle stroking of a six-string, or just a miserable bugger, Subscribe to our Spotify playlist and read more Tuesday Blues here!  Do you have a musical memory? Send us the Submit a Guest Spot and we'll feature it!
